93 Lumina won't stay runningCaleb5505 04-07-2006, 05:15 AM My 93 Lumina (3.1 OHV, auto) just died at a traffic light all of a sudden. It wouldn't restart at first, then when it finally did, it would sputter and die again as soon as I depressed the gas pedal. By gently feathering the gas, I was able to nurse it into a nearby parking lot. And that is where it sits. The car just passed smog the day before. Less than a 10,000 miles ago I replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter. After leaving the ignition on for a couple of minutes, the engine will start and idle smoothly. But it sputters and dies as soon as any gas is given. If I let it idle, it will run for about a minute before dying. My guesses are Fuel Pump Relay or Fuel Pump. I swapped relays with the AC relay and got the same results. Is there an easy way to check the Fuel Pump? Any other ideas? Help! jeffcoslacker 04-07-2006, 06:38 AM Check the fuel filter. The symptom says it can't supply enough volume on demand, so that would be the logical first step. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
