Clean Yellowing Headlights , the easy way

I own a 93 Thunderbird and cleaned my Headlight the easy way.

I used Soft Scrub (cleaning agent) and Liquid Gold (furniture polish)

My Right side head light was replaced and I can't afford to replace the Left side yet and it didn't pass inspection.

My left side was badly yellowed I couldn't see in side of it and it was so Dull looking.

I do have before and after pictures of this..

I covered the Headlight in Soft Scrub and let it dry before washing it off , The yellow just came right off. It still has a tint of yellow but I can now see in it and it looks clear and clean.
I sprayed Liquid Gold ( furniture polish on it and shined it up instead of Windex).

My car passed inspection and has been through a rain storm and still looks great.

The inspector asked me if it was a special replaced Headlight and if I was going to replace the other one as well.

Good tip, I'll have to try that on my 91. Tennessee doesn't require inspection stickers, but the yellow headlights on a white clean Super Coupe really puts a gimp in my giddy-up. Thanks man!:smokin:

I have a 90 bird, and had the yellow head lights. I took some timeto make a perminate fix by removing them the progressively sanded them with wet or dry sand paper from 400, 600, 800, 1000 grits then polished them with an acrylic polish by Blue Coral that i got at Auto Zone, look brand new

A bodyshop man told me about this. I wet sanded the lights with 1500 grit paper. After I got through, I noticed that the lenses were much clearer when wet, but hazed up immediately when you dried them off. He told me not to worry, just spray them with clear and it would take care of the haze and keep the yellow from coming back. It worked great. Do they look as nice as the brand new ones on my Crown Vic? No. Do they look great compared to the way they were? Definitely.

I did that on my Talon when I had it, but I used 1500 then 2000 grit wet sand paper. After I scrubbed them for about 15 minutes each I then used Maguires Plastics Cleaner and that got rid of the Hazeyness and they looked awesome when they were done.
