I am purchasing a used 2005 Sebring with 21,000 miles on it. What are owners thoughts on the extended warranty?

I think they suck myself, the dealer doesnt cover wear an tear items....and almost everything outside the engine is wear and tear.

If you treat the engine good, and use up the current warranty. You should be fine... after your done paying the 1600 or so for your warranty and if anything were to go wrong it would probablly cost you 600 or less to repair it...so in short I think you would save yourself some money and not get the extended and just deal with the small issue that come up...

I had bought the extended warrenty for mine and it did come in handy when my rear defroster stopped working. They ended up taking my top off and replaceing the window, cost would have been over 1000.00

I bought an extended warranty on my 02 sebring and it was well worth it, within 1k miles the transmission blew and needed to be replaced (that was its 2nd transmission) and in Feb of this year something got clogged or corroded in the colling system and the shop had to replace a part on the engine that cost around $600, I dont remeber what it is. The previous owner seems to have never taken care of this car.

Highly reccomend you buy the extended warranty if you intend to keep the car for a long period of time. I have an 05 Sebring 4 door. With 38K miles on her so far, she's:
1. Blown her thermostat housing.
2. Had her font suspension fixed twice.
3. Had the front brakes and rotors replaced
4. Lost the transmission front pump - tranny had to be rebuilt.
5. Had the sunroof fixed because it stuck.
6. Had the air filter box replaced because it broke.
7. Currently has air conditioning problems - goes into the shop again next week.

I maintain the car by the book. Without the warranty, this car would have cost me thousands of $$$ so far.
