So I finally paid off my Mustang and decided to trade it in (after stripping the mods off it). I just decided to sell out and get an LS1 F-Body. Well I found one on Autotrader at a dealership somewhat near me. It's a 2002 Camaro with 25k miles on it that I picked up for $18000. They gave me $12k for my trade since it was in such good condition (little do they know I ran it at the track 20+ times with up to a 150 shot of N20).

So with only $6000 to finanace, I was relatively happy with my purchase on the spirited 4 hour long car ride home. Anyways, on with my story!

So on the open part of the freeway I see a nice little EVO to have some fun with. Not sure what year it was but I am pretty sure it was an EVO (VIII). Well I speed up a little bit and get beside it. We are going bout 70MPH. I pace him until he notices me. He revs his little GGG at me and I rev back. I start honking and we take off on the third honk. It was once I gunned that I was REALLY happy with my purchase. The top end was incredible. I start pulling on him slowly but surely and had 2 cars or so on him by 110.

Very fun day for me! I finished my car ride home and started planning on my first mods for this car!

I think I will start by going to a 12 bolt or a 9" rear and getting a beefier clutch. From there I will move to N20 and D/Rs. Then go for exhaust and a cam as well as other bolt ons.

Looking like a very fun project so far!

Good kill, and nice purchase. LS1's really shine on top end. It's a real hassle to get them out of the hole, so your first mods should be suspension mods IMO. If you have an automatic, they aren't hard to get down the strip. If you own the 6 speed version, i'd suggest the following:
- 4.10 gearing (Sick launch, just ask Danno)
- Lower Control Arms
- Panhard Bar
- Subframe Connectors
- Relocation Bracket
- Koni Adjustable Shocks/Struts

Thanks for the input, suspension is usually my first target. I just ordered a few boltons: Lid, Throttle Body, Shifter, Cut-out. Once I sell my mods from my Mustang I am going to get a 9" rear and a new clutch.

Anybody looking for the parts to put a 99-04GT into the 11's?:evillol:

Maybe in a few months

I have a set of stage 1 cams. A Zex Dry Kit. A set of D/R's. An SCT Handheld, CAI, Throttle Body, Plenum, and a full set of drag suspension as well as some lowering springs.

I think I might just put it all on ebay.

Put it all on ebay. I've sold soo much stuff on there it isn't even funny.

BTW, i'd pass on the cut out. Those P.O.S. really make alot of noise even when they are corked. Just buy a full exhaust system when you have the money.

Put in a cam, and you'll be in the 11's. LS1's cam is SEVERELY restrictive to the cars true potential. My buddy with just a 224 cam put down 404whp w/ bolt ons. Imagine if you went more aggressive :D

Sounds like a great car. As I recall you went pretty hardcore on modding the Stang. What times are you looking to eventually trap with the LS1?

I am hoping to break into the 10's (with drag suspension and slicks) when all is said and done, and still be able to have daily driving capabilities....

I still have my CRX and Eclipse both of which I might sell to make room for other projects. I made quite a bit of money and all of my cars are now paid off so I have room to do whatever I want with my cars, I also might buy a Busa...

Yes I am a youngin' (18 years old) and if you guys are wondering where I came up with the money, I was ran over by a van and was SEVERELY injured. I was in a coma for 4 days and the doctors were pretty sure I wasn't going to make it. My back suffered major damage as were both my legs. I had to recieve more than 200 stitches from the entire ordeal. The saddest part is that I can no longer compete is any really strenuous activity. I used to jog 2 miles a day and competed in mixed martial arts competitions with a solid chance of going professional. None of those things I can do now....

It still hurts my back to walk long distances but I am confident I will make a full recovery. We recieved $10,000 immediately (not counting medical bills) for compensation. We also have no less than $1 million on the way, so needless to say me and my family will be financially set for a while...

It's a very mean car... I might just give it to my girlfriend when she gets her license, she LOVES that car...

Yeah it was pretty awful.... I would have rather not gotten hit, even though I will be getting a million dollars or more in settlement... I can't even look at the pictures of the entire ordeal without breaking down into tears.... Very rough time... But I pulled through and have the rest of my life ahead of me.

I almost bought a 2000 trans am WS6 but I do one of two things, I either would mod it like crazy where i would never be able to turn again, or i would balance the car out, I chose not to get cause that car and rain dont get along well and since it rains alot in florida you can imagine.

what are you talking about? RWD + Rain + Torque = Fun in the rain.

Makes for cheap drifting, it doesn't take much effort on the car, easy on the tires and you don't have to rev the piss out of it to do it... so you can do it relatively quiet... and hardly anybody would know.

I loved the rain in my old Z28. I just hated the car. Odd I know... but that's how things work.

Dude, my car + rain does not equal fun. I mashed the gas once trying to catch up to a coworkers mercedes, and my car went into oncoming traffic. That was while I was at 30mph. I've actually broke traction in 3rd gear on the streets and in the rain. I guess it's fun on rather large streets, but I really don't think that LS1's are safe to drive in the rain personally. I can't imagine how hard it would be to control an 03 Cobra in the rain.

-The Stig-
04-06-2006, 08:52 PM
It's all about throttle control... I'm not saying mash the gas always.

But, if you lay into it slowly and can get her to step out gently, it's very fun.

If TerminalVelocity ever gets back on, he can tell ya about how I drifted the Camaro in the wet. Once while going to breakfast through a long intersection at roughly 30mph.

Also helps to have 245 tires on it I guess, doesn't take much effort on the cars part to break them loose.

I always wanted to drift the traffic circle by my house. Almost did it one time, I was setting up for it, but noticed on the opposite side of the circle was a Cop entering the circle. Glad I didn't go through with it, that'd be a nice ticket... speeding, exhibition of speed, wreckless driving, wreckless endangerment, destruction of public property (the street) so on and so forth.

Drifting the Circle would be fun, and probably fairly easy... the biggest threat for me to try it is the fact that A. a Police substation is roughly half a block away and B. the police use the circle as a sorta 'hub' for leaving their station to go out into the City.

The car will be a S13 Nissan 240SX, white 1993 with 132K miles on it to be specific, fastback with a fully built RB26DETT motor running 15psi with suspension mods and a little weight reduction.
Make a note of this for when the car is reveiled.

I was gonna say the Z32 too but he said it was gonna be around the 2400 pound area, he'd pretty much have to get rid of everything except for his seat and motor to get that car to 2400, (but if you do here's something that might interest you)

http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1316770

So weight is why I ruled out the 300ZX, he said he doesn't like the 350Z, so thats not the one, and I doubt he would go back to an older Z again since he already had one, unless he really likes them that much. A BMW Z3/4 doesn't sound right, so if he wants a Nissan "Z", I can't really think of what he could get. So thats why I went back to the Nissan family and the S13 w/ Skyline engine to put him at 500rwhp.
