Hi Guys

I have a 97 Altima (MT). I washed my car and the engine, I washed it while it was running but i dont know it start misfireing badly.

The MIL (check engine) light also came on. On idle it keeps missing, but while cruising it runs fine with very little missing ,on and off. The MIL light blinks some time while driving.

I hooked up the scanner it pulled up a code P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected). I took of the plug wires they were all wet with water and i dried them I dried the top of the plugs too, i took off the DIS cap dried it but nothing worked its still the same.

The 3rd number plug and the wire (where it connect on the plug) was also wet with oil. I dont know how the heck it got wet with oil. The oil level is good.

Please somebody help me its driving me nuts. My tune-up is also due, is it going to help ?

Any help is appreciated

Ok it's a simple fix, You need a valve cover gasket. There are 2 pieces . One that goes around the outside of the valve cover, Two is the gasket around the spark plug galleys. Thats why you see oil in there. The reason why you get a misfire is cause the oil is drowning the spark to the plug..GL
