yes

At first it will be ok, but after a while, the stock amps will crap out.

I have had good success with changing the headunit only and putting in a db reducer as an interface to lower the output signal to the stock amps. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to put a new head unit. It also sounds pretty good and too most ears you could not tell the difference from stock as long as the wire leads have been properly insulated (taped really good). Just my opinion.

I just did this on my 93.5 G20, I have done it in the past on a nissan maxima and 300 ZX with similar results. You can get a db reducer from Walmart of all places for less than $20.

Hope this helps,
DJ

On my '94, I just ran the preamp outs into the amps..works great. Buy a headunit with preamp outs and you'll be fine.

You also wont have to turn the volume up as much, if you do go the route of using your speaker outputs to the factory amp.
