92 lumina 3.1 v6 won't start Jackhank007 04-03-2006, 12:53 AM
I just changed the fuel pump and filter, now it won't start does anyone have any ideas Thank you in advance for any advice richtazz 04-03-2006, 12:39 PM Why did you change the fuel pump in the first place? Did you have the battery disconnected while you did? Have you checked the fuel pump fuse and relay? Jackhank007 04-03-2006, 01:05 PM the fuel pump was shot the battery was disconnected all of the fuses are ok Jackhank007 04-03-2006, 02:15 PM I've tried to use the 2 second on, 10 second off routine but that has not worked either Daghara_terry 04-04-2006, 08:33 AM check wire to fuel pump richtazz 04-04-2006, 10:17 AM 1st thing you need to check is if fuel pump is coming on. Listen at the tank when the key is turned on. If the pump doesn't come on, the new pump or relay could be faulty. Next, check fuel pressure at the rail. Should be 31-34 psi, key on/engine off (if lower, new fuel pump could be faulty). Start car, should drop approx 3-4psi, then disconnect vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator, should shoot back up to key on/engine off reading or slightly higher (if readings don't change, fuel pressure regulator is faulty). If fuel system passes ALL above tests, your problem is most likely ignition related and just a coincidence. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
