99 Cherokee Sport - A/C questiongregshawjr 03-28-2006, 07:27 AM On my wifes jeep, when we turn on the A/C, it sounds like the vent door isnt opening properly, and the front window defroster does not work and no cold air blows out, and actually you can feel a tiny bit of air coming thru the defdrost vent, but very little. is there any easy way to access this A/C door and fix it? gregshawjr 03-30-2006, 12:42 PM anyone? gregshawjr 04-18-2006, 01:24 PM I just took the jeep to my buddy, he did a pressure test on the vaccuum - and said there was no loss in pressure or any leaks. He thern refilled the system with R134a and the jeep has been blowing cold for 4 days now. IF it were to leak out, how log would it take? dave92cherokee 04-19-2006, 07:42 AM It depends on the size of the leak and where the leak occurs in the system. If it's a pinhole leak it may take as long as a month to leak out or as short as a week depending on how heavily the a/c is used. If it's a pretty good leak then it will be out in about a week. As for the a/c door that you're talking about on my 92 the only way I have found to access the door's and such on the inside is to completely remove the dash from the jeep then you have access to the entire a/c housing and the heater core if needed. lowbud 04-22-2006, 11:02 AM If you pop off the frame around the radio and fan controls it will give you some limited access to that area. I had a friend who's wire became disconnected and I reconnected for him. I have a '97 Cherokee that had poor A/C. I would recharge it but it only lasted about two weeks. Finally had to take it into the shop for repair. Appearantly Jeeps are known for the leak behind the dash. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
