Hello to you all.

I recently decided to buy a BMW. Not having sufficient money to buy a new one, I started roaming the authorized dealers for a used car in good condition.
I found one 318d with 5 years, well kept and with 160.000Km (+/- 96.000 Miles?).
My question is, what is usually the expected mileage we can get from this kind of engine before we consider it being in the end of its life?
I know it depends a lot on how careful you've been with the revisions and driving skills, but suppose that all have been done by the books, can I expect to get many more miles from this car?
A friend of mine said that with the mercedes, you shouldn't care about the mileage, it can take 200.000, 300.000, spin around and back to zero, and the car keeps going. That's why the Taxis here are all Mercedes. Can I expect a similar resilience from a BMW?

Thanks

Yes you can expect the same thing with a BMW. As long as the engine is taken care of. (ie Not driven hard all the time, regular oil changes, etc) they will last forever. I know plenty who are still running strong on the original engine with over 200k miles.
