So lately I've been testing out new power fc maps for the "power fc guru" on newcelica.org. I've been sending him my logs and he has been making tweaks to the maps. We've been experimenting with lift kicking in at 5600rpms instead of 6200. So far he's been doing an excellent job on the tuning.. I'm liking the tune very much and I think we are heading in the right direction.. and this race really made me believe that the new tuning has been helping out!

So I was out testing out the new map and making datalogs doing 4th gear pulls on the highway. I see two cars coming up really fast from behind.. they both pass me. One was a girl in a BMW that's in my car club.. the other was a Mustang GT.. 99-04 body style. So I pass the BMW and line up with the GT because I wanted to see what the new map would do against a high 13 sec car especially with the launch variable taken out. We are cruising side by side at 65mph.. 3 honks and we both take off. I started out in third gear around 6,000rpms.. as I wound out 3rd gear we stayed dead even. I shifted to 4th at 8,600rpms and pulled a couple inches.. and we stayed dead even again throughout 4th gear. As we were nearing 115mph, we starting goin down a small hill.. I shifted to 5th gear and started to pull more. After I had about a fender ahead of him we both shut down around 125mph. I was pretty happy with the outcome.. and I bet the mustang driver was pretty surprised that a celica kept up! lol

Cliff notes: Roll from 65mph. I beat him by a fender at 125mph.

hmmm...dam, nice,.....been to the track this year yet? hows the all-trac doing?

Not yet.. maybe soon though. The alltrac is still waiting for the engine. The motor is still sitting on the stand. I'm ready to drop it in, I just haven't had the time or help to do it.

It hasn't been modded much. Just a cold air intake, unbolted stock exhaust, and Apex'i Power FC. That's all I need for high 13's in the 1/4.. drag radials would help but I don't count that since it's not a power adder heh.

wow, good kill man. Those celica's are a lot faster than most people would expect.

When are you going to run it at the track?

^^Yeah, I think my buddies 2002 GT Stang ran like a 14.32 in the 1/4. He has an auto though.

Thats pretty close to the limit of a stock GT.........

maybe the stang was slightly modded also? most stock rustangs run in the 14's,, altho on the other hand you didnt race from a dig. either way i'm impressed that a celica can be that quick. good kill :killbarne

It isn't I ran 14.2, 14.18, and 14.32 with just a K&N

A 13.9 is possible, but far from likely.

A stock 2V GT is a joke from a roll, and basically stops accelerating over 90MPH. I am surprised it was actually close....

yeah good point,, you would think the stang would have a higher top end and the celica would be quicker off the line.:dunno:

I wasnt really impressed with the top end of my buddies 02 stang gt after about 70 or so. Especially for a V8 RWD.

and vips a liar on the no help on the engine part... i've offered to help him drop it in.... i just told him if anything happens during the process i havn't a clue how to fix it.

We're almost ready to drop the engine in. In a week or 2 we should be dropping it in... then comes the fun part :)
