i have a 96 nissan altima gxe that will start but after a few minutes will turn off & the has not even been moved & then will have problems to start again. sometimes will start & will acelerate to 4 or 5 rpm & feels like gas is not going thru or something?. also have a question on the ecu what is the normal & correct position of the flattened srew? needs to be all the way to left(counter-clockwise) or to right (clockwise)
please help w/advise, by the way i recently changed the fuel pump & car still does the same, put a distributor from autozone 2 mnths ago. can it be defective?

Might be a clogged catalytic converter. The ECU screw can go either way but most people leave it counter-clockswise.

Very Likely the distributor is defective. The AutoZone distributors are reconditioned from distributors that they have no idea if there was an intermittent heat related problem. I replaced AutoZone Lifetime warranty distributors twice on the same Honda. On each occasion a few months apart the engine started immediately after replacement. After purchasing a new distributor at Ebay there was never a problem. The same signal from the distributor that initiates the spark at the sparkplug is also used by the ECU to actuate the fuel injectors.

With a vacuum gauge T connector off the fuel pressure regulator.

EXHAUST SYSTEM BLOCKAGE: high reading when engine first started, falling back to 1 or zero and gradually increasing to 15 or 17.
