2006 Civic Have I been lied too?mralias 03-20-2006, 08:13 AM Just bought a 2006 Honda Civic Ex with NAV automatic 5 speed. It has the 1.8 engine. They say it should get between 30 - 40 MPG (Ya right!!!). Just did my first 156 mileage analysis and found out I was getting 24.64445 mpg (156 miles 6.33 gallons). This was both Highway and city driving. WHY??????? The vhicle only has 300+ miles on it. Im real confused and disapointed. :crying: Maybe I should have kept my Highlander 4wd. That got 22 mpg with a 3.0. BrodyP 03-20-2006, 08:19 AM I would get 28 MPG everyfill up on my 04 civic. My newest car has been getting 17 MPG but recenlty after breaking 1500k I have seen it go up to 22 now. My guess would be that you just need to give it some time and make sure you break the car in the proper way it should be. Take a look at 8thgencivic.com for some break in procedures. mralias 03-20-2006, 10:30 AM I would get 28 MPG everyfill up on my 04 civic. Thanks for the reply. Hope your right about the break in period, will check out the above site when it is back up. Would hate to think I just wasted $20,500. Anyone has suggestions on break in, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Gitrdone42 03-20-2006, 10:52 AM Hey ive got a 06 coupe ex 5 speed and it usually gets about 30-31 with city and highway driving. Yours should get about the same, but like BrodyP said just wait to break it in first. mralias 03-22-2006, 08:18 PM It appears that I was given some miss information by a party, that I live with, of the female persuation, that lives in the same house as me and lets me use the Honda every once and a great while. Guess who??? Anyways, the update is that the real mpg was 29 on this first tank of gas and no 24 mpg and on the second tank it is 32.5 mpg. So it appears that I have not been lied too by the dealer. Just a calculation errror by the unnamed data supplier. As for my wife. I am looking to reprogram the NAV system with a voice activated "Eject Wife Now" feature. I will let you know when I get it working.:naughty: hxgaser 03-22-2006, 11:25 PM Ha Ha. I really want to see you try that and see what happens. In my case, it usually is the other way around, where I get to sleep in the garage and my wife stays in warm and cozy bed:grinno: redbug 04-05-2006, 01:02 PM I have the EX with Nav, 5 speed Auto, so far, I have been getting, 31, 32, 34, mostly highway with a little bit of around town. Also hitting 70 mph for most of the trip which I am sure cuts the mileage down. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
