Turn signal indicator light??

Recently I noticed that my right turn signal arrow indicator on the dash was lit (continious) while I was diving along. This is only after dusk when the headlights are on, it goes away during the day...

At first I thought it was because I had a burned out left front running lamp, because this also alternately flashes when you have your turn sinal on. So I replaced that bulb today... PIA to remove all that plastic shroud in the wheel-well just to get at a stupid bulb! Now I still the same glowing right green arrow on the dash!!

I know, I know... Here I am griping about a stupid indicator lamp, when others are having problem just keeping there cars running! I am very grateful mine runs like a scalded cat, but it drives me nuts seeing this lamp stuck on and not knowing why. All the other lights, signals, etc. are all working great, what can cause this??

you have a short wire that is conected to front or rear signal lamp easy if you check the the filament of the bulb is touching shortlight change both bulbs and see if the wires are together good luck pal

Woah! That's one heck of a sentence there! I think I have de-coded it though... :)

I checked for a bad bulb or short in the rear tonight, found nothing wrong back there. Switched all the bulbs from the other side, still acts the same. Major pain getting at those also. 10+ fasteners to pull that whole rear tailight panel off!!

I want to get to the bottom of this soon because now the right signal isn't flashing about 50% of the time. On the way into work this morning I noticed this. The lamps still all light though, so I have to do the manual on/off with the signal stalk lever.... I guess I'll have to pull the front right next.

My bet is that you will find a bad bulb in the front. I think that the previous poster was trying to explain that in the bulbs with two filiments, when one blows, it sometimes shorts across the other, causing screwy results. The driving light filiment is shorted against a piece of the turn signal filiment, to when it lights, current from the turn signal circuit flows through it.

I have a reoccuring problem with my 64 Malibu tailamps. One tail light goes out when you brake! Caused by a bad ground.

You are correct sir! Changed out the right front bulb today, and it is working great now. It actually started flashing again once I removed the socket, but I replaced the bulb anyway just to be sure it stays working...
