I am changing the rear drum brakes on my wifes 97 civic, I have changed drum brakes before but not on a honda, how to you get the drums off? Is there a trick, on american cars you just pull them off, if there's a retaining clip to remove it first, but thats all. The drum won't just slide off on her car. Any help is appreciated.

Either my question is so stupid it doesn't deserve an answer or newbies aren't welcome here, thanks anway.

I'm assuming you're talking about about the drum brake cover? If that's the case, yes, you simply pull it off. Just make sure the thing isn't engaged first :) If it doesn't simply pull off, bang it with a rubber mallet or there are threaded bolt holes that you can stick bolts in and use for leverage.

Arnt there two retianing screws in the face of the drum?

If not then useing the threaded holes in the face of the drum will get it off very easily.
