if you've read my other posts then you'll all know i need a new clutch..... latest news..... went to my local back street garage and asked for a price..... £91 for the clutch and total including fitting £250 (for a Unipart clutch)

Went to my nissan dealer who previously quoted £460 and told them.... they checked the price ot the clutch on the computer...... same as the Unipart...... so i asked them why they have such a greater difference in the price compared to the other garage and they said that they would do the whole thing for £300 inc VAT which is a bit more but its being done by people who know my car and its a nissan part they're using, so the car goes in on Tuesday morning and by tuesday afternoon i'll be wheelspinning like a good un again !!

Having to get a clutch replaced really sucks. I got ripped off on my replacement. Stupid buggers at the place misquoted me on the install price, bought and replaced a part w/o my permission, and left me with 4.5" of freeplay at the top... Needless to say they weren't a Nissan/Infiniti dealer, and I will never go back.

Just take it easy on the new clutch for a few hundred miles... Save the hotspots in the clutch for after that. It'll keep you from replacing it yet again in 5 years... :D

Thats not a bad deal & least you know its being worked on by someone
who knows the cars (get them to check your CV gaitors whilst they've
got the driveshafts out)

i wish i was !!!!!!

at the moment im working just outside Cardiff, i only get to go home on average once a month if im lucky...... Joys of aircraft work..... Tornados cant land in my garden so i have to fix them in Wales instead !!

get them to check your CV gaitors whilst they've got the driveshafts out

you wouldnt believe the work ive had done on them already..... had a vibration once.... after 3 days in the nissan garage stripping the gearbox down.... problem found to be three ball bearings split in half on the ball and cage assembly on the inner part of the driveshaft (A FIRST FOR A NISSAN..... NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!) ... got all the seals replaced on the gearbox though!

as for the outer.... had the tripods go after the gators split on a trip home to scotland .... it was raining so all the grease was washed out and the bearings knackered up..... new gaitors fitted all round!! ....

im just wondering what can go wrong next

My clutch went at 30,000 miles!(started smelling after a bit to much gas in 1st gear a few too many times, then started slipping badly) got a new one in and its been perfect for the last 5,000 miles.

ALL DONE... the car went into the garage at 08:30 and came out at 14:00 complete with a new clutch...... what a difference it makes, no more need for a left leg like Mr Universe!.. only problem they had was they couldnt get the gearbox oil filler plug out so they filled it through the speedometer drive hole!!...... Luxury of having a nissan dealer do the work..... it comes with a one year warrantee for the parts, which equates to another 30,000 miles in my case probably....

TOTAL COST OF THE DAYS ACTIVITY = £303.82

BOOKING THE CAR IN FOR AN ENGINE CHANGE SOON AS THATS THE ONLY THING LEFT I HAVENT HAD THEM WORK ON YET!! So the engine clock is ticking
