Swaaping out carbs for injection system...
MKS 07-06-2002, 06:08 AM In one of my other posts someone mentioned that it would be very easy to swap out my carbs for an injection system from a MK1 VW Rabbit/Golf .... are there any guides on how to do this ... or does anyone know how to do this ..... ??? plz help should not be too hard to find a MK1 Rabbit/Golf breaking :) MKS 07-06-2002, 06:45 AM Weeeeeeeeee I aint a newbie any more weeeeee :) anyway if ya got any suggestions about the injection swap plz say :) i dont even know if it would icrease the HP at all ... anyone ??? Setanta 07-06-2002, 07:42 AM Are you running the D15 twin-carb setup? If so, adding Fi is pointless as those carbs are good for up to 120bhp (20bhp over JDM spec). Much easier to drop in a ZC or SOHC 1600 Fi D series engine as you then have the factory computer to go with the Fi. Don't forget that when you go to fuel injection there are a lot of other things to add - better fuel pump would be one such thing. If you have the twin-carb that we do, get a better cam, high-flow cat, headers and exhaust. Chuck the ram tube style intake as it just sucks hot air into the carbs and replace it with a CAI mounted low down. Bump compression a tad and you should have 120-125bhp (the D15s actually respond quite well to mods - well, the Aussie/JDM spec ones do anyway ;) ). Best bet is to get a ZC though. Adding a non honda Fi setup is going to painful for next to no real gain - those twin-carbs are tuned tight :) MKS 07-06-2002, 08:48 AM ok thansk for the info man ... :) gonna set up a air intake system today :) 91civicDXdude 07-06-2002, 11:11 AM just put a 400 holley on there haha bracer 07-06-2002, 01:22 PM Keep your carbs man. Look at it like this, the D14 dual carb has 90hp and so has the D15B2 with injection so with 100cc less they make the same power. I know the 1.5 is dual point but it shows that you won't gain much with FI setup. Maybe you'll win some power with the MPI but if you do that I would just swap the whole engine. MKS 07-07-2002, 05:52 AM Yeah I think im gonan keep the carbs :) .. I will do a few mods to it just to get the HP up ... but I think im gonna save up for a 1.6 CRX or a 1.6 Civc ... prob work out cheaper that way than putting a new engine in my civic hehe and easier ... can get a nice clean civic over here for about £400 ... £800 - 1000 for a real nice one :)... But i still need to find a place where i can get bigger carbs :) will have to check the webber website .. hehe if they have one :) Setanta 07-07-2002, 07:26 AM BTW - there is a tweak to make the carbs open up full on low revs - I'll see if I can find it as while it won't give you more power, it will improve throttle response low down. MKS 07-07-2002, 11:22 AM Yeah someone mentioned that before but never posted much about it :( Setanta 07-07-2002, 04:57 PM 'prolly me ;) I just have to track down the ex-Honda mechanic that did it to my GL and a mate's car. I didn't pay much attention to what he did I'm afraid as I was planning a ZC swap. As soon as I catch up with him I'll let you know. MKS 07-07-2002, 05:45 PM yeah might have been u :) plz find out :) AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
