Noise when making turnmarvel9 03-16-2006, 09:02 AM When I make a left turn, especially the engine is cool, I hear some noise like from vibration somewhere. When I make a right turm, I rarely hear it. As the engitn gets hot, The noise disappear. The tone of the noise is high when the engine revolves fast and vice versa. What could be worng? phil-l 03-16-2006, 03:17 PM First thought: Power steering. Have you checked the fluid level lately? OldFaithful 03-17-2006, 04:23 PM Sounds like power steering to me too. You didn't memtion your model year but my 2000 has a resevoir separate from the pump and there is a screen in that reservoir that took me a long time to get clean enough to put it back in. Do the "search thus forum" with power steering and read those stories. Good luck. Jim phil-l 03-17-2006, 04:42 PM Jim - I've flushed the P/S system in my 2000 - but didn't look closely at the screen inside the reservoir. I'll have to do that next time. marvel9: See Jim's detailed P/S flush description here (partway down the thread): http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=529801&referrerid=396853 OldFaithful 03-19-2006, 09:38 AM When I removed my reservoir to rinse it out, I noticed the screen looked plugged up after a rinse or two with Acitone. It took quite a while of filling and sloshing and draining and refilling with acitone before I could get most of that screen clear enough to reinstall. I think that the screen being plugged would restrict the fluid flow enough to start giving you the hydrolic cavitating noise that we hear for the pump. It is first noticeable in left turns or at least mine was. The noise is gone now, at least until that screen gets plugged again. I did not price a new reservoir and I don't think that you can replace the screen. Jim vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
