I`m in the process of bringing my 69 Stringray into the 90`s with a 96 LT1 350. I have original wiring harness and could use some advice and help with any problems I may encounter. The wiring and computer will be a real challenge but I`m sure it can be done. I`m putting a 400 Turbo behind the LT1. I know the purist will not like what I`m doing but I think it would be a better deal with the LT1 powerplant. So any advice or help would be welcome.
Thanks,
Don in Tulsa

Hi, I'm new here on the site but I do have an idea or two on this. The first thing is if the engine and computer are from an automatic or stick. I'm doing almost the same thing with an old Impala. I've been told that the program in the computer is not the same for stick and auto so I may need to have it flashed. Other than that I myself feel this is not a hard change as long as all of the wiring harness from the LT1 is all there. There is some parts under the dash that are needed and all the sensors will be needed at first. The sensors I think are going to need adjusted for the new weight and exhaust system of the car. No cats thank you very much. So this is all going to be kind of hard to dial in. I am still not sure if I will use the old turbo 350 or put in some type of 700R4. I'm leaning towards the 700 so it is not so hard on fuel. I have it down to what air box I need at this point. I think you may get by with a Vett air intake,it would be close. I'd like to do away with the maf sensor but I think that will make this even harder to get running. From what I've been reading the o2 sensors will need to be working or at least one so the computer knows how the engine is burning, Need the distributor from the LT! also. This goes on and on but I guess the big thing is to get as much of the parts from the LT1 car as you can. There is the fuel pump relays mass air flow relays a burn off relay,I have apile of parts that is unreal for this. Then I need a return fuel line and have to find an in tank fuel pump. I also was told that the 96 and newer is harder to work with the computer but that was a few years ago so there could be more software now. Anyway, I wish you luck with the project, Mine is a little at a time. Three years now but I keep the thing running until all the parts and the plan is ready. The engine is getting some miles / breaking in while I get it together. Take care.
