1995 Camry Starting Problem95toyota 03-13-2006, 02:18 PM I have a 1995 Toyota Camry with an intermittent starting problem. Every once in awhile, the car fails to start. I put the key in the ignition and turn it, and then the clock goes out, and there are no panel lights or door lights. 10 minutes later, I put the key in the ignition and try it again, and it starts fine. The problem seems to be random, but has happened more frequenctly in the last month. Any suggestions? Thanks. Mike Gerber 03-13-2006, 06:58 PM If the battery is good and all the battery connections are clean and tight, then it sounds like the infamous Toyota starter solenoid contacts problem. You can varify this. The next time this happens have someone hold the key in the start position while you tap the starter with a small hammer or a mallet. Just tap it, don't try to break it. If it then turns the engine over, you have varified it's the starter solenoid contact problem so common to many Toyotas. Do a search on this forum for "starter contacts" and read up. I think it is even in the FAQ's section. Mike RIP 03-13-2006, 07:24 PM .....and read and head the first post on this forum.
