:banghead::confused:I got a question that i can't seem to get answered anywhere else. now that i've done the under hood stuff i want for now, i want to take out the plastic fantastic console and kinda retro the floor with new carpet, and a shifter on the hump. i've contacted 3 major manufactures about what shifter to use on a 4L60e tranny, and they all ask the same question, "is the shift position detector in the console or somewhere else??". i cannot find this answer even on alldatadiy diagrams and i even e-mailed them and they cannot answer this question due to some "Legal isuue's(?)". so help me out here and give it to me straight. am i fishin' with the wrong bait, or in the wrong pond??

The shift light switch is on the side of the transmission. It's also the reverse light switch as well as the safety neutral switch.

I gotcha mi amigo, but the sweat is over what/where the shift is detected, ie; shift position detector, as the b&m truck/suv megashifter that is the closest fit, the tech dude wants to know if the shift detector is in the console or somewhere on the tranny. the reason being, i want to eliminate the console completely and put the shifter on the floor/hump. b&m for some reason doesn't know where this detector is, and all the shifters are cable op'd. with the 4L60e being "electronic"-ish, they are afraid it is like some cars, that the shift detector is actually in the console. i've looked up gm diagrams, and used alldatadiy, and they are all iffy, at best.
thanks for your come back, and if you know where it is, i will owe you, blazee and old master a beer!!
