I bought this car at auction so do not know history of it. It will go down the road but only about 20 mph. If I throttle to the floor, it will eventually get a little more speed but coughs and bucks before it gets anywhere. I have checked the throttle position sensor and it is good. The distributor has already been replaced as well as the plugs and wires (by someone before I bought the car) apparently trying to figure out the problem. Check engine light is not on. I tried to retrieve the codes from the computer but when I connect a ground to pin one on the data link, the check engine light just pulses continuously. Never stops. I counted 100 pulses before turning the key off and have tried three other times with the same result. Any ideas? BTW this is the 4 cylinder model ES.

Do a full tuneup, check your tranny fluid and timing.
