Newbie Starter Questionumagooma 03-06-2006, 11:42 AM :screwy: Hello everyone! Love this website. I am not mechanically inclined when it comes to automobiles but am tired of paying high mechanic labor prices. My starter just went bad and with the help of this forum, I decided to do it myself. Got the starter out with not much problem and I hope it goes back in the same way. My newbie question is this: when the starter energizes and throws the starter gear forward into the flywheel to crank engine, how does it align with the flywheel gears to keep from banging into the flywheel. I mean, does it just happen to perfectly aline with the gears of the flywheel when it is going in. Stupid question but just curious Thanks......Jim:screwy: stompin60 03-06-2006, 01:54 PM Yep, just put it back in the way it came out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
