Without being able to turn the lock clylinder to the run position with the key this repair requires drilling the tumblers out of the worn out lock clylinder. Be carefull not to damage the steering column.

Alot of time the chrome piece with the ears that you use to turn the key will loosen up and twist in relation to the cylinder. You can sometimes get the chrome piece to move enough to get the key back in and then there would be no need to drill.

Had same thing happen. The steering wheel has to be taken off and more inside.Very difficult job.I replaced the whole steering column. Got one at salvage yard for $50.

You will need to purchase a steering wheel puller if you want to do it.
