hooking up my tach Cavalier9696 03-01-2006, 11:23 AM
I have a 96 cavalier 2.2 standard. I have tried to hook up my tach but some have said I need a tach converter and some say I don't. In the instructions it says to hook up the ground, hot, lamp light and - side of the ignition coil which I CAN NOT figure out the ignition coil part. Can it be hooked up without a tach converter? If so how and where? Thanx Classicrocjunkie 03-01-2006, 03:17 PM the tach has to have a 2 cylander setting since that all it will read. Other wise its not going to do jack. Get the adaptor and do it right and easy way. My autometer only has 4-6-8...There is a stick with a how to in the subforum. CavLCD128 03-01-2006, 06:58 PM i set mine up and it works fine wihtout a tach addaptor...as far as instructions go...mine came with specific cavalier instructions...but if it isnt able to run at 2 then your going to need an adaptor jakegday 03-01-2006, 08:28 PM http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=375752 this thread didnt help me much when i was putting in my tach, but you may learn a thing or 2 from it Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
