Blow off valve??? WS-Enterprise 03-01-2006, 02:39 AM
I havent heard of anyone trying this, but I was wondering if you could fabricate a blow off valve to a warm air or cold air intake and it accually make the hissing sound as if the car was turboed.. anyone heard of this done? Just wondering cause I love to hear a BOV hiss.. so figured it would be neat to do until i finally get my turbo.. Anyway, no, there is not way to hook up a BOV without a turbo. To understand why, learn how one works- Its use is to vent extra pressure being developed by the turbocharger when the throttle is closed, such as during a shift. During a shift in a car with a manual transmission, the throttle plate is closed. The pressure produced by the turbocharger has nowhere to escape to. This excess pressure could potentially cause damage to the turbocharger's impeller and may also slow or even stop it, thus causing turbo lag when the throttle is pressed again.
