Oil Sending unit question, 85 Silverado browserealty 03-01-2006, 12:22 AM
Hello, I have a 1985 Silverado 4x4 with a 305. My question is can a sending unit start to wear out? What I mean is I know I am getting good oil pressure. The gauge sits at 0 and when highly reved it starts to move. It just started doing it. Before it sat 30+ until I cleaned the engine. Wire seems to be hook up. What do you think? Thanks, The Rev. If it started it after messing around with the wire, it could have broken, but yes, the sending units do go bad but in my experience it happens gradually (steadily reading less and less over a period of weeks or even months.) browserealty 03-03-2006, 01:24 AM From what you said, I'd check the wire first. Thanks 67 malibu. I went under the hook; moved the wire a little and waalaa, we have pressure registering. Thaks again.. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
