How to know the exact mileage?

I guess the 80's Caprice has only 5 number places for the mileage reading so how do I know if that car is 97k, 197k, etc.? thanks all

Well, you could put the previous owner(s) on a lie detector and ask them about the mileage.... thats the only way to know for sure. (But a little extensive)

Look at the title, unless it says odometer discrepancy it should say on there.

Check brake pedal pad,door latch(driver side) driver seat,ignition(key entry),for visible signs of wear.Then compare to a known car
