I have a 99 alero and the TRAC OFF light came on after i was driving for half an hour. While the TRAC OFF light came on my RPM's increased than usual, and every time it passes 3000 RPM's the car jerks. Maybe every time it changes gears it jerks i have no clue. But after i turn off the car and turn it back on the light goes off and the car is fine for couple of min. Then the Service Engine Soon and TRAC OFF lights come on and it repeats the same thing again. It's driving me nuts please someone help me.

Which engine? Since you have a SES light get it scanned for odb-ii DTC error codes.

I have a 2.4L engine. I was thinking it might be a bad sensor, if so how long it might take to replace the whole hub assembly?

Your problem sounds more like an engine sensor like the crankshaft position sensor then it does a Hub/Bearing assembly. Although the wheel sensor will trigger an ABS light, TRAC off or service vehicle soon light I haven't heard of one affecting the engine. You can get it scanned at places like Autozone for free and see what error code may be causing your problem.

I'm going to bet that one of your engine coils needs replacing. Same thing happened to both me and a friend of mine. Seems to cost about 300-400.

It i don't know about engine coils need replacing because the car after the TRAC OFF light pops on then the car jerks everytime it changes the gears. Plus one time ithe TRAC OFF light came on when my right wheel run over a put-hole don't you think that might be a sensor, or something with my suspensions because all of my struts and shocks are preety much torn apart, those things are mest up.

Good point. Due to the defective hub the traction control system is actually doing it's job by cutting off power to the engine to limit wheelspin which appears to be the jerking. So that makes sense.

Since you have it isolated to the the right wheel get the hub/bearing replaced. Also, check the wiring along the lower control arm and make sure the electrical connector that goes to the connector on the hub is clean and tight.
