Towing helpkorny351 02-27-2006, 06:06 PM '93 2.3L Supercab 2WD 5-speed. Factory listed towing capacity for this truck is 1400 lb. I am looking at a boat/trailer combination in the 2300 lb. range. I'm fairly sure the motor can handle the load on short distances. The marina is less than 5 miles from my front door. The tranny is the same as used in the 6 cyl. rangers, so that shouldn't be a problem. Anybody see a problem with this combination? Any suggestions to make my rig more capable? Would the addition of a frame hitch improve the overall capacity? Thanks in advance for your input. John K. 2000mudder 02-28-2006, 12:47 PM is that the bumper rated capacity? i have towed 5000lbs with my frame mount hitch with no problems. i would recomend a frame mount hitch so you don't rip off your bumper and loose your boat in the process!!! korny351 03-01-2006, 06:46 PM Thanks for the info. Had thought about a frame mount but your input puts the cork in the bottle. Any other recommendations? John K.
