This problem has got me on my neon if i go out and i try and start my car for the first time of the day it is a rediculous task to do. I have to give it gas and it will want to start. it will start but then just die off in like a second I have to give it gas to get it to start. Now I have recently replaced the egr to see if that fixed the problem but it didnt. I can hear the fuel pump turn on when i go to try and start the car.

I have recently switched my metal gas tank to the plastic gas tank from my 98 parts car i also switched the fuel filter from it aswell. I am not getting any code thrown and once i first get it started. I dont have a problem with it for the rest of the day. when i first get it started i have to let it rev allittle and then it will be fine but its al lilttle boggy at first. but then its fine. there isnt any acceleration issues. when I rev it high and it drops off after I let off the gas the motor will maintain itself and not bog out. also

so im lost lol

When I had a problem like that, the battery was slowly dying on me. One day it completely died, put a new battery in and no more problems. I'd check for corrosion on the wires and/or terminals and under the battery tray.

its a brand new 650 amp battery. it been relocated to the trunk with a 2 gauge wire running from front to rear. but aperntlty the problem has disapeared when I put gas in it yesterday. I wonder if there was water in the gas in the tank:rolleyes:

The filter assembly is different for the 1995 and the 98.

The 1998 has the filter in the sending unit. The 1995 has a separate filter outside of the tank. Two different systems.

On the 1998, the outside filter like thing is not a filter, it is an accumulator. If you swapped that into your 1995, that will cause you problem.

yes i switched out the whole entire gas tank the fuel filter on the 95 has three connections and the accumulator on the 98 only had two so i was forced to switch it over its the exact same setup just a different car.

Have you checked fuel pressure yet?
