opinions wanted : is a clean 88 body worth $200 ? fastr68 02-22-2006, 09:56 AM
i think i have a chance at a clean no rust bright red 88 c1500 pickup with a recently blown up 4.3L in it, good tranny, new rockers/corners all done, never wrecked or anything else, only thing i know that it needed was exhaust work, otherwise good truck what would you do ? i dont know if id feel much like swapping another engine into it, unless i were to sell/trade it off for some kind of diesel pickup or dually when it was done what could this 88 be worth possibly would you mess with it ? thanks maxwedge 02-22-2006, 11:08 AM The box alone is worth more than that with no rust here in upstate NY. Shortbus 02-22-2006, 11:47 AM $200 sounds fair to me, if you decide not to fix the engine you can part it and make plenty of money to justify buying it. I just bought a running 1992 for $500 it has the W/T trim and a 4.3 with a manual. I'm going to use it for everything I don't want to use my silverado for like hauling stuff and driving in inclement weather. fastr68 02-22-2006, 12:20 PM true no rust its whats neat about it, very uncommon/rare here too but still.. its just a regular old nothing special base c1500 so ya know thats why i am debating, and i dont feel like working on yet another vehicle, mostly burnt out on vehicles anymore, been too much, hmm what to do thanks for any further idead opinions etc broughy84 02-22-2006, 03:18 PM shit send that bad boy my way I need a trans and bed. Man for 200 I'd jump on it. 85lolo 02-22-2006, 08:25 PM I defanatly would buy it,the box alone is worth twice that in the rust belt states jveik 02-23-2006, 09:51 AM yeah lol here in nebraska its about $1500 for even a 73 to 80 or 81 to 87 pickup box WITH slight damage from texas. if it was me, i would buy the truck and drop a 350 in the engine compartment... by the way, how good of a job did they do on replacing the rusted out stuff? if its chock full of bondo then i wouldnt trust them much. prolly would have stuffed bondo into the wheel wells also, making it a rust bucket in about 1 or 2 years, so make sure to look closely for waves in the paint, or telltale signs of bondo work Rs051802 02-23-2006, 11:38 PM Damn, 200 I would be all over it. That truck if it is clean would be worth towns more just on the box. A new engine, and you are in business. 88's were very good trucks. If you pass let me know, I will be all over it.
