E350 with bouncy tire between 55-75 mph

Hi All,

I bought a E350 V10 6.8 last week. As I was driving it home on the Interstate the front driver's tire started to "bounce" and the truck shook between 55 mph and 75 mph (at 77 mph the truck was/is smooth). I brought it into the dealer and they stated that the ball joint needed to be replaced. They "fixed" it but the truck still bounces. I had to replace the lower driver's ball joint, put on two new front tires, and had them put on new rotors and pads (front).

Before I go back to the dealer I would like to ask if anyone has any ideas to other causes or suggestion (other then the other ball joints).

Check your center link. If you can move it, it's worn. You can also check the inner tie rod for wear, both could cause front end vibration. Another thing you might want to consider, changing the upper and lower ball joints that you haven't changed yet. If one is worn the others probably are too.

Thank you.

I had the dealer check out the truck again (this time they test drove - never did the first time). They took two old tires in the front and placed them with two new tires in the back (2 new in front, and 2 of 4 new in back). The older tires made it bounce and shake. I had to replace the 2 older tires.

I thought it was something else because at first the truck did not bounce (first 200 miles of 800 mile trip) than began to shake and bounce after that.

Thanks for the suggestions,
