Im getting ready to change the front brakes on my '97 Blazer, and I'm wondering if the front caliper has an allan wrench or regular socket-type fitting

My 96 has an allen head type socket on the pins.

My '97 has 3/8" Allen wrench (10mm might also work)

open the bleeder to collaps the calliper, dont push the fluid up in there, you can do damage

If the brake system is equipped with ABS, opening the bleeder before you push the caliper piston back into the caliper is a very good idea. However, make sure you block the flex line first so that any debris in the caliper is forced to exit the system through the bleeder. Make sure you bleed the wheels that this is done to after the brake job.
