I have 99 Prizm with loud exhaust leak upon acceleration. Went to Midas to get the donut gasket replaced and they want over $200. They say that when you remove the uppipe to replace donut gasket, the gasket on the other end also needs replaced. Is this true? That adds $$.

Any thoughts on this? I know there are other people w/ same problem.

I also have P0441 and P0446 CELs. They say it is the canister solenoid...$500.

I took mine to Tuffy. They charged me $100 (a mistake for sure, I was quoted $150). They said nothing about having to replace anything else.

Dealer part is about $40.00 and its easy to change.
remove o2 sensor from pipe - remove two exhaust bolts -
remove gasket and install new one.

the can solenoid may or may not solve your problem..these codes point only to the system involved, not nessessicarily to the offending part, the solenoid can be tested by romoving the electrical connector and applying power from a simple 9v battery using little jumper leads...either way tell them to shove both of their highly overpriced estamites you can get a solonoid if faulty, at a junk yard
