93 Dakota Ignition Trouble's ??logix 02-11-2006, 03:15 PM My 93 Dakota is giving me headaches, It won't even turn over. I installed a new starter , ignition switch module and new key tumblers doesn't even seem to get juice to the starter . Checked the relay it appears ok but need to find a schematic so I can trace down the problem could even be neutral switch but can't find it. Any help would be great. If I can get a schematic on it I can fix it or anything but don't even know what I'm looking at without it. LOL:screwy: SQUIRREL-50 02-14-2006, 10:12 AM I have a '92 Dakota with a simular problem. The neutral switch should be located on the drivers side of the transmission close to the shift linkages. I replaced my neutral switch, it didn't fix my problem. My relays checked out okay also. I wired a push button starter switch directly to the starter until I can solve the problem. Gizmokid2005 02-22-2006, 04:04 PM I had the problem once...I'd check to see if your negative cable on the battery is loose. Mine was so I took it off, and reseated it and it solved my problem. Stevo2 02-25-2006, 05:03 PM Switch should look like this... http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/aap/gps/n0-nz/ns11.jpg SQUIRREL-50 03-08-2006, 09:44 PM You only said your truck wouldn't start. Is your check engine light, oil light, etc. comming on when you turn the ignition switch on? If so, your getting juice to the switch. If this is the case, but the starter is not geting juice when the key is turned to the start position and the relays and fuses are okay, this is the same type of problem I was having with my '92 Dakota. That's why I put a mannual start button on it until I had time to check it out futher. I found a bad splice (C26) under the windshield washer fluid tank. It was made up with a Black wire from the starter relay, a Gray wire from the AC clutch relay, a Gray wire from the 30Amp fuse in position "B" and a short black pigtail. The splice had completely come apart. I reconnected the wires and the starter is now working with the ignition key. By the way, I got the idea to start looking at the splices in this area from someone elses reply to another question on this forum.
