I asked a former saturn tech and here is his answer. "NO. 91's and early 92's have different CRANKSHAFTS with ignition timing reluctor (pulse generating) rings that are incompatable with the PCM's for any other years. The BLOCKS are 100% interchangeable for ALL YEARS. SOHC and DOHC BLOCKS are all basically the same." Not sure how you could go about finding out what crank is inside.
