2002 Silverado 5.3L Starting Trouble landon01 02-08-2006, 10:04 PM
Hello All, I am currently having a tough time getting my 2002 truck started. I have checked the following things: Fuel Pressue = 60psi at the fuel rail Compression = Above 150psi All the grounds have been checked out. I hooked a timing light up to one of the spark plug wires and I cranked the motor over, with the fuel pump disabled. I was getting a spark at a consistent frequency until the fourth cycle of the motor. I am wondering if this is pointing to the crankshaft position sensor. The one thing I should let you know is that I am doing a conversion of a 2002 5.3L Tahoe motor, into a 1986 chevy pickup. I had the motor running on an engine stand at idle, and then I got it in the truck. Once in the truck it would start up consistently and idle great. All in open loop. And then I decided to take it around the block. I did not have any O2 sensors at the time, and the camshaft position sensor was not working. As I limped it back on about 4 cylinders it died, and has never ran consistently in open loop again. My goal is to get back to where I started. I will provide more details in a discussion. Thanks a ton, and I hope there is someone out there to help me. Thank you, Landon01:grinyes: silverado122775 02-16-2006, 04:23 PM Does it turn over at all? if it does, does it turn over better when it is cold than when it is warm? if so. you will need to replace the Fuel Preasure Regulator.
