96 lumina: should I? jdmetro 02-07-2006, 09:32 PM
New Here. I'm looking at a 96 lumina tomorrow. Guy wants $2,500.00. I know absolutely nothing about it as I have not looked at it up close. no test drive etc. However, my question is : what type of motor is in the 96 lumina sedans: interference-type? or non-interference? And, how reliable is this year~make~model? Thanks..jd  corning_d3 02-08-2006, 02:29 AM I own a '96 Monte Carlo LS and paid $2,850 for it, and it's been a good car. It more than likely has either a 3100 or a 3400, both pushrod engines(non-interference). Leaking intake gaskets, however, can ruin these engines!!
