WIP Modeling Carbon Fibre Mirrorvenom_design 02-07-2006, 01:36 PM hey mates, I know this is sketching forum, but i'd like to share this with you!! I made a carbon fibre mirror these two weeks at my work. It's not really work but I have to work for experience for school. I work in a company where they make carbon fibre parts for race cars and stuff... I'd like to show you how the modeling works. So I made pics while I was working on it. Here they are : 1. I started with some plates of foam. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%201.jpg 2. then I made it smove. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%202.jpg 3. I made it shiny. Now the 'plug' is finished. This is the final product, but then massive. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%203.jpg 4. Now I started making a negative to make the final product in. I laminated the negative over the plug. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%204.jpg 5. Now I polished the negative. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%205.jpg 6. Finally I laminated the carbon fibre and glass fibre into the negative. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%206.jpg 7. And here we have the final product. I only have to make a mirror inside of it. http://members.lycos.nl/venomousdesigner/Pictures/klein%207.jpg If it's finished it have to fit on a Fiat Punto Abarth Rally like this one http://www.autopress.be/Temporaires/SALON/PARIS_2004/Fiat%20Punto%20Rally%20Abarth.jpg I hope you enjoyed the pics!! If you have comments or questions i'd like to hear it!! rsublime4life 02-07-2006, 03:13 PM Thats pretty freak'n cool. have you mad stuff for your own car? venom_design 02-07-2006, 03:34 PM This is my 4th week overthere...So I didnt have time to make anything for myself...but I am abled to make one mirror (from this negative) for myself to show at school and for my portfolio. It's very interesting, I've always been interested in modelling and fabricating this stuff. Have fun at work! rsublime4life 02-07-2006, 05:10 PM I've always been interested in modelling and fabricating this stuff. Have fun at work! Are you kidding!! I'd give my right nut for someone to teach me how to do that properly. Make a lot of extra coin for my car if I could fab things for guys in the car club. NewCarDrawing 02-11-2006, 06:07 AM Cool! Where do you work? And if you fail your licence test, you can fit the mirror on my car. ~Joey stuffbyalex 02-11-2006, 01:43 PM that looks great! I've never seen how that's done before.
