96 Tracker problem with 2nd gear downshift

My 96 Tracker sounds and feels like it is grinding second gear when I downshift from third only when cold. When the tranny gets good and warm it goes away. I had the tranny rebuilt about 15K miles ago for the same problem. It did not correct the problem. Then my clutch cable went out and when this was replaced it fixed the problem. Now it's back and the clutch cable seems fine. Thanks

Sounds like your 2-3 sychro is going out again. I assume your out of warrant. Get a blow up chart of your tranny and fix it if your mechanically inclined if not youll have to force it to the tranny shop again. But before you do that double check to make sure you have plenty of tranny fluid in there. BTW Do you rev match when downshifting to third?
