Disassemble side mirror

The circlip on my drivers side mirror on my 98 caravan has popped off. I have managed to disconnect the wiring and take the mirror off the car but it seams that I need to get all the insides out of the caseing. Has anyone ever disassembled a side mirror and can you give me some pointers.

I tried once and ending up having to replace the whole mirror assembly. The actual glass part was glued on and I couldn't get it off without breaking it. Fortunately, I found one on fleabay the same color for a good price. You may want to check into a used one.

I had the same problem on my '97 T&C last summer. Tried taking it apart and found it wasn't worth the effort. The mirror is an entire unit designed to be replaced. Also found mine on ebay, but am not totally happy as the mirror vibrates more than I would like. May go to the junkyards and see if I can find an original.
