If I take off the resonators, and catalytic converter, so basically straight pipe everything after the factory headers, what will this do for horsepower? In my county in Texas I don't have emissions testing, so I'm looking at just taking everything off. (I don't mind the noise).

probably make it increase, along with your tourqe (in other words, there are alot of other factors, and you'd have to dyno it.) but honestly, unless your desperate for free horses, don't do it, i can almost guarentee you'll get sick of the noise, unless you don't talk or listen to music in your car it will get to be damn irritating.

I'm new to the whole forum thingy...and thanks for the reply...but yeah I'm not all that anxious for free horses...but I want the deeper throatier sound. I pulled off the resonaters....and its loud...but very race like. Hopefully pullin the cats will make it a bit throatier. My buddy has a porsche 928 with out cats or exhaust. It IS a V8 but still I think my lil 2.7 6 cylinder will sound good. I'll let ya'll know when i do it and post a sound clip. Again thanks for the info

a friend of mine with an e30 M3 ran a straight pipe off the headers and capped it off with a borilla exhaust...sounds awesome and gave him 10-15 hp. the S14 engine runs so cleanly, it still meets with emission requirements for north carolina.
