Would you buy this car? 95 RM 50K for 7000

OK Roadmaster fans, here is a question. I'm looking at a 95 sedan with 50K on the clock, nice and clean (except for a could of bumper bangs on the corners) climate control, leather, power seats (not heated). The car drives real nice, but the guy wants 7K for it and does not want to budge. Its a used car lot specializing in luxery and classic cars. Typical 30 day 50/50 warranty on the drive train (worthless of course.) Says he knows he can get 8K for it on ebay.

My 93 Deville is falling apart at only 141K. I'm losing some features, but I've researched Roadmasters and you guys all swear by them.

Seems people out here in Southern California know about these cars, and it is hard to find a low milage vehicle.

I was condsidering a Le Sabre or Park Avenue, but I'm leary of the 3.8 plastic manifold.

The car drives real nice (a little squeel in the brakes, but they just got the car in and haven't even safety checked it yet, won't get title until Monday.) Clean CARFAX, originally from Florida, but in California for years. Front door panels loose but not broken, side mouldings a little loose in spots. Paint nice and shiney.

I've never met a used car saleman who would not deal, but maybe now I have.

I'm not much of a horsetrader myself, and would like to get the process over, but I hate to get screwed.

Your :2cents: much appreciated. Hope to join you soon.

That sounds high for the year. My friend purchased a '96 (one year newer than the one you are looking at,) in excellent shape with every available option, and only 36,000 miles on the odometer for $5000 from a dealer last November. I peruse eBay on a regular basis, and spend a lot of time on the Roadmaster page, and I don't remember seeing a used Roadmaster sell recently in the price range that dealer hopes to get. The ones that do sell over $8000 are the ones made in the 1940's era. I did a quick appraisal at edmunds.com for a '95 with 50000 miles in excellent shape with all options with a California zip code and dealer retail was $6667. If he has trouble selling the car for the price he has advertised, he might be willing to go down on the price a little, but knowing how long he will wait before he does so is a gamble.Best thing to do is a little research and get printouts of appraisals and approach him with your info. Hopefully then you negotiate a better price. Good luck.
