1990 super coupe smoking

I have a 1990 super coupe the tranny does not shift into 3,4 i have been driving for awhile like this the car will reach 50-55 mph and the car will cruise like this without slowing down quickly like down shifting. The car started smoking dimorning i was wondering if maybe i blew a head gasket if not what could it be. Thank mikee1:frown:

well you must have the manual trans since the auto isnt a 5 speed.you must be redlining that thing all the time if the highest gear you have is 2nd.is the smoke coming out of the exhaust? is it pretty thick and white? if so, blown head gaskets are likely since they are a pretty common occurence on those cars.you might want to inspect the oil dip stik to check for coolant contamination.
