99 taurus with 110,000 milesdomthemeatman 02-03-2006, 03:36 PM I have a 99 taurus with 100,000 miles on it and it needs a transmission overhaul. the transmission shop said it would cost aroud 2500 dollars for parts and labor, is a car with that many miles on it worth putting that much money into it? Any advice would be helpfull. Thanks Willyum 02-03-2006, 08:20 PM Something like that is a personal choice. What shape is it in, do you like it, and how well taken care of ? Even though the car isn't worth $2500, what kind of car can you go out and buy for that much? mwt878991 02-04-2006, 10:23 AM For $2500 you should get a 12 month 12K miles warranty any motor or tranny mounts and even axles done if they need it. Just the tranny should run around $1700 to 1800 Mike :smokin: mcconnc 02-05-2006, 08:00 PM I'd also check w/ another tranny shop. Try AAMCO if you have one near you. I had my '98 Taurus tranny rebuilt by AAMCO and it cost me $1,700, and I negotiated a 3 year, 36k mile warranty on it. Mine went at 72k miles. I'd be happy w/ the 99k you got out of yours. Most Taurus tranny's go between 75-100k. mwt878991 02-05-2006, 08:29 PM I am not saying you didn't get a deal from AaMCO but they have one of the worst reputations nationwide for being crooks.
