I have a 91 accord wagon that I want to sport up. I have found just about all the parts I want but the catback exhaust. I am trying to use only bolt on stuff so that I can do all the work myself (I don't weld or have a shop). Pretty much tried all the major mfg's (magnaflow, dc, pacesetter, etc) Anyone have any ideas?

well realize you really aren't going to gain noticeable hp or torque from it. You may pick up a few hp up top, but chances are you will sacrifice a little low-end torque to get it.

Anyway, your best bet economically, is to find a muffler you like on ebay, buy it, and bring it to your local exhaust shop and ask them to build you a custom 2.5 inch catback. It should be under $300 total.

Thanks...since i have your attention :) I'm really going for a sound and thought I might get a little more hp. I plan on putting new headers on as well and i'm hoping to get a little hp there too...possible? In addition, I want to put a new high flow fuel rail and new injectors...Anyway, other than a turbo, where can i get some low end 'cause thats what i really need. Oh, its an automatic but im looking for a manual to transplant.

You don't need new fuel rails or injectors. There is no point and with the injectors, you would need some sort of fuel control to compensate. You aren't anywhere near overrunning the fuel system, so upgrades there aren't necessary.

You could swap to manual, get a nice clutch and a lightweight flywheel. There you will notice the greatest difference.

All of these small bolt-ons are nice, they add noise, and combined may add a few hp, but just don't expect alot. I had a 90 accord, did the intake, catback, header thing too, and I'm glad I went the economical route, because it really doesn't make much of a difference except in volume. I was still running low 17s at the track with 140K. Which is hardly competetive. They are nice cars, I'd love to have another as a daily driver, but realize, that short of an engine or tranny swap, or a custom turbo setup, you aren't going to get noticeable gains. Not trying to dishearten you or bash the car, just my .02

Thanks for the info. I'm new to this so your input has been really helpful.

Thanks for the catback suggestion, I was looking at spending a lot more money. I might just go with the headers, the stock exhaust and put a cool muffler on. I was looking at the evo II carbon fiber and titanium muffler...okay choice? Thanks again for your time.

Well the muffler is worthless without the catback. If you are going to do one exhaust mod, you might as well do them all. Header, hi-flow cat, catback, and muffler. I'm just saying, don't spend $700 on a name brand catback, when you don't need to.

and also, if you're going to be spending a good chunk of change on all of these little things why not just spend a little more and do a motor swap. From the looks of things you're gonna be spending close to two grand for 5spd swap, exhaust, header, intake, and you were planning the upgraded fuel delivery. That's a bit of money for a bunch of little things that you won't get much of a gain from. You can easily find a H22a (newer vtec prelude motor) for about $2,000. Swap that in and you'll be running circles around a stock motor accord with a bunch of little bolt ons. Just some food for thought.
