97' grand caravan horn trouble

I attend school a Tech HS in the automotive area and as a project decided to bring my mothers 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 Liter in. I was going to work on the horn but can't find any diagrams and even my instructor is unsure about where it would/could be located in the compressed front end. So...if anyone could help me in any way it would be greatly apprectiated.

Here's a basic wiring diagram from online. I would think it unlikely that both horns are bad so I would look for a ground problem, blown fuse or a bad relay.

You may also suspect the clockspring. It was the problem on my 96 caravan. If your air bag light stay on, then that's it! Almost sure!

If I remember well, the horns are on the driver side. You should see them if you remove the round cover in front of the wheel.

The clockspring is bad,the horn is part of the clockspring.Disconnect the battery before doing this.You do not want the airbag blowing if you do something wrong.

Clock spring for me too! airbag light was on all the time,horns had to be replaced regardless as they were burned out,Dealer covered the clock spring with 160.000Kms its an outstanding warranty issue.Check with them first, they will need your V.I.N.
My 96 has the horns mounted on the front left as AlainB mentions, I never thought of the access hole in front of the wheel? anyway just ahead of the wheel (look way up under the fender) the wires are easily removed and probed with a test light.

The horns are under the headlight on the driver's side. Try pulling the headlight unit for easier access as well as through the access hole in the front wheel well. Best access is by pulling the bumper cover. If it is the clockspring, there was a recall for '97s, so you might want to check to see if that was replaced on your mom's van first. The dealer should fix it if it wasn't replaced.

My horn quit and the fuse and relay are OK. I haven't checked the horns yet that's next. I checked the Dodge Safety Recall and the way it reads is that the air bag light has to be constantly on before they'll change out the clocksping for free. I don't think they'll change it just for an inoperative horn...even tho the horn is a safety item also. Try getting a car to pass inspection w/o a horn!!

Update: Shortly after my last post about the horn not working, the cruise control stopped working...then shortly after that, the AirBag light came on and stayed on. Now I can get it all fixed for FREE.
