Hi all! Engine missing with no power. When cold idles rough then slightly better when warmed up. The engine only sounds like its missing when at idle or slow acceleration. When reving up engine it first stumbles or hesitates then slightly gets better at higher rpm. Also, when driving with normal acceleration or on the highway under a load very little power. One other thing, new timing belt, tensioner assy., pushrod assy, and idler wheel. New plugs, wires ignition module, air filter, and oilchange. Please help!!!

How old is your O2 sensor? Might be an area to look into; mine are failing as well, the symptoms have been rising for two months - only I have 4 :crying:

I believe you may only have 1; maybe 2

Is your Rodeo a 95 or a 95.5?

O2 sensors typically wont effect fuel trim enough to cause a miss. Given all the parts you've replaced, you might want to look into a bad igntion coil or the valve timing. A constant miss might be caused by the valve timing being off a tooth or three.

I agree with Rodeo02. I had similiar problem when I changed my Civic timing belt a year ago. Guess what, One tooth is off from the pulley. I have to re-do everything.
To identify if it is the spark plug or ignition problem. Unplug the spark wire one by one when engine is running. If there ALL make difference between pluged and unpluged, the spark plug or wiring should be OK. Otherwise, the one makes no difference could be the defect one. Good luck

Thanks guys for your help. I will try unpluging the wires one by one. Now this test is to see if there is a bad coil right? Also, I took the truck into a respected shop a few days ago and they did some computer diagnostic and said the ignition module was bad and that I may have a bad fuel injector or two and that they need to be cleaned before they can determine if any are bad??? Has any one had a bad injector cause this problem?? One other thing, not only does it act like its missing it also has littlte to no power as well!!! Thanks again!! $80.00 to clean injectors.

All those possible defected parts mentioned above will result the lack of power. If you find one plug makes no difference between plug/unplug. Also take a close look for that fuel injector, you may need a voltage meter to test if there is a pulse. Compare with other good ones. If there is a pulse, you should hear/feel that injector is working. If they all seem to OK. You may have a clogged fuel injector.

Ok thanks. So it would be wise to go ahead and have them clean and check them for $80.00? Also. I'm working on the rodeo right now. With the engine running I pulled each plug wire from each coil pack one by one and there was no difference in the engine. But when I pulled each wire there was spark jumping from each post on the coil packs except one post on the last coil pack there was no spark coming from there. I checked it again and still no spark. Is this a good wway to check coil packs? The coil post which was bad is for the # 5 cylinder.

Just reading your old post here. I know you have it fixed. Low RPM misses very frequently are due to ignition problems. I had the same symptoms on my Jetta when the coil failed. Cost me nearly $400 to have a shop diagnose it and replace it. Glad you got it yourself.

Had similar problem with my 95, turned out to be a bad injector.....
