I have a '94 Dakota and the fan clutch was making noise. When I checked it I found the waterpump had play in it do I replaced the pump and a few days later replaced the clutch. Problem is now when I take off - standard shift - it sounds like an airplane taking off. In the first 3 hears the air noise is really loud. Any reason for this??? Could the new clutch be bad??? Thanks for any help you can give!!

If it sounds that bad, that means the clutch isn't disengaging your fan at all. On our old chevy, the guy had a racing fan in it and it made that noise, because the fan ALWAYS spun as fast as the motor, so you might have a bad clutch, or a racing clutch.

I'll need to check with Advance auto and make sure it's the right one for my truck. It makes this noise all the time.

Had the same problem, I bought an aftermarket Fan Clutch and it was louder than the one I took off, if you buy a OEM Clutch you have a 50/50 chance that it will work properly and not roar. The best thing to do is replace the Fan & Fan Clutch with a Black Magic Electric Fan that you can purchase at Advance Auto for around $200.00. I did this to my 99 Dakota 5.2L and it works great, no more roar and I picked up 15 HP and 3 miles per gallon. In the winter the Fan hardly comes on at all saving a lot of power and fuel.
