Turn of SES lighttPhnT6M8 01-29-2006, 09:02 PM Recently replaced spark plugs, ignition wires and ignition coils (great price at $19.99@). When I went to start up for the first time and it failed to start I remembered I did not connect the wiring haresses to the coil assembly. After I had done so the engine started iinstantly but the SES light came on and remains on today. What is the best procedure for re-setting this warning light? fordpsdman 01-29-2006, 10:36 PM Here is according to GM's tech data::2cents: Without Scan Tool NOTE: Only clear DTCs when instructed to do so. All of the diagnostic data that was saved along with the DTC will also be erased when the code is cleared. A scan tool should be used to clear diagnostic trouble codes. When a scan tool is not available, DTCs can also be cleared by disconnecting one of the following sources for at least thirty (30) seconds: NOTE: When codes are cleared in the following manner, a short period of poor driveablity could result while the processor goes through a relearning process. Caution: To prevent system damage, the ignition key must be "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting battery power. The power source to the control module. Examples: fuse, pigtail at battery PCM (http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V6077957~C32517~R0~OD~N/0/56775861/62806566/62806570/62806571/34853741/34857029/34857030/34857300) connectors etc. The negative battery cable. (Disconnecting the negative battery cable may result in the loss of other on-board memory data, such as preset radio tuning).Notice: Since some operations (particularly Idle Air Control (IAC (http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V6077957~C32517~R0~OD~N/0/56775861/62806566/62806570/62806571/34853741/34857029/34857030/56492533)) valve idle control) are learned, it may be necessary to partially depress the accelerator pedal (http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V6077957~C32517~R0~OD~N/0/56775861/62806566/62806570/62806571/34853741/34857029/34858641/56203532) when re-starting the engine after PCM (http://www.alldatadiy.com/alldata/AFI~V6077957~C32517~R0~OD~N/0/56775861/62806566/62806570/62806571/34853741/34857029/34857030/34857300) memory is cleared. It may also be necessary to release the accelerator pedal very slowly when first returning to idle, to prevent a stall. This will allow the PCM to re-learn IAC valve position. Learned operations may be restored by normal driving. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
